Dominic Strangio of St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute sadly passed away in April 2026, following a long and courageous fight with cancer.
Strangio was born in 2010 in Niagara Falls, NY. He was a 16-year-old baseball player for the travel team Gronk Nation.
He attended high school with the graduating class of 2028 and balanced both academics and athletics during his school years.
On the field, he batted and threw right-handed. He participated in competitive events such as the 4th of July Fireworks Classic at Sports Force Parks, where his team faced strong opponents and gained valuable experience.
During those tournaments, he played against teams like Howard Couty Cubs, Wow Factor Mid-Ohio, Next Level Baseball, and Tripletown Aces.
Outside of baseball, Dominic enjoyed playing basketball, soccer, and volleyball.
He was also a fan of the New York Yankees and the Buffalo Bills.
During his journey, he faced a courageous battle with cancer. Students, teachers, and staff across schools wore “Dominic Strong” shirts in black and gold.
St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute also stood beside him, welcoming him back to campus and organizing community support initiatives.
Along with Niagara Falls schools, St. Joe’s students and staff raised more than 20,000 dollars to support Dominic and the Roswell Park Pediatric Oncology Clinic.
Despite all that support, he lost the battle. Several close friends and relatives have come together to support Dominic’s family in this difficult time.
He will always be remembered for his unforgettable contributions as an athlete at Gronk Nation.
The funeral service will be made available soon.
Rest in Heaven, Dominic Strangio.
